Rep Power: 18403 | Hello WTers. Could everyone chime in which is your favorite bud book and why? I'm specifically looking for the best book to educate myself on strains and what they look like. Your favorite book may have something someone else may be looking for, so add a note as to why you like your book, ok? Thank You. |

Rep Power: 7938 | Re: Best Bud Book: Your Opinion Please! Cannabible 1, Cannabible 2, and Cannabible 3. It has quality pictures, printing and binding make it a quality book. It discusses the different strains and their genetics and has good pictures of the cured buds. I'm sure other people think they are good as well. I believe if you look online you can pick them all up for around $40.00 Last edited by RooR69; 03-11-2007 at 12:48 PM.. |

Rep Power: 66 | Re: Best Bud Book: Your Opinion Please! Ed Rosenthal's series of Big Book of Buds is just as good if not better than Cannabible as far as amount of information and strains. Jason King's Cannabible series has the best photography hands down and very good information. Understand that many of the strains covered in these books are based off of clones of original strains. Plants are diverse like humans. You and your brothers and sisters all got DNA from the same parents yet the children come out different. And so just because you have a seed of a strain does not mean it will produce the exact same results. |

Rep Power: 18776 | Re: Best Bud Book: Your Opinion Please! Looking at Bud Books doesn't work for me because inevitably whatever my local dispensary is selling doesn't look at all like the book. I mean it looks good, just not like the book. I find the best way to learn about bud is to talk to your local bud tender. These guys all have strains they love and wax poetical the minute you ask them what they smoke or what they recommend. Plus, they'll steer you away from stuff that's not quite top drawer. The plain fact of the matter is the books tend to be pictures of stuff from all over, but all you really have access to is what's selling in your local dispensary. |

the Cannabible, although really really good, still have a lot of missing information but the photos are awesome. but as far as i know them and the ed rosenthal books are about all there is out there... I got all 3 on eBay for around $30 plus shipping. and for the most part i really like em! i just would have liked a little more detail.

And as for the budtenders, unfortunately many of them are not nearly as well informed as they should be. Often the budtenders go with the descriptions the growers give. Now there are certainly some budtenders that are very well informed and know their MMJ very well. But as a patient, it really is best to be as informed as the budtender so you do not have to rely on their opinion. But as for what books I would recommend here is a list: For strain pics and info I would look at the Cannabible series by Jason King and the Good Bud Guide by Albee. I would also keep up on High Times, Cannabis Culture, Heads, and Skunk for strain info. Although these magazines all have their own flaws, they are pretty good at keeping up do date on the info in the world of marijuana. Also there is a site called Smokersguide.com, this site is one person who goes to the coffee shops in Amsterdam and gives strain reviews, so all the strains may not be relevant, but some of them are. For other info Marijuana Botany by Robert Connell Clarke, Marijuana Horticulture by Jorge Cervantes, Understanding Marijuana: A New Look at the Scientific Evidence, by Mitch Earleywine, and the Spliffs series of books.

Rep Power: 32 | Re: Best Bud Book: Your Opinion Please! Bah! Jason King has got most of his facts wrong I think most books out are misleading sry. Strains 1,2 and 3 are pretty good although it does contain some wrong info as well. Books are like coops one say sativa one says indica for a strain, who really knows of genetics honestly. |

The Big Book of Buds, Volumes 1, 2 and 3 By Ed Rosenthal, more detailed and concise than the Cannabible, and it only contains strains from recognized seedbanks. The Cannabible might have you searching for strains that no longer exist, or don't exist on this continent. Here is a sample page from Volume 1: ![]() |

Rep Power: 8309 | Re: Best Bud Book: Your Opinion Please! thats part of the fun! but this particular book also teaches about breeding, the difference between dominant and recessive traits, and what each variety is like as far as taste, smell, and type of high. plus, a few of the strains covered are easily acquirable in seed form. |

Rep Power: 16 | Re: Best Bud Book: Your Opinion Please! I'll chime in for Cannabible as well. The pictures are great and he throws in great trivia all throughout the books. They are definitely easy to just pick up and flip through without having to get too deep into them. Some beautiful exotic buds in there. Can tell he really put his heart into making them as well. Good stuff. |

Pretty much ever since my first introduction to cannabis, I've absolutely loved reading the entire Dune series nice and slowly - savoring the nice intricate and imaginative plots. Frank Herbert's style lends well to shoddy short-term memory too, which is handy. |
