found this on the marijuana policy project website.. US CA: Beaumont Ready To Ban Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Thu, 07 May BEAUMONT READY TO BAN MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARIES The Beaumont City Council has decided medical marijuana dispensaries cannot be established locally. Two weeks after approving the first reading of the ordinance, the council formally adopted the municipal code addition Tuesday night. It will go into effect in 30 days. The vote was 4-1, with Councilwoman Nancy Gall casting the dissenting vote. Gall said two weeks ago that she has a problem prohibiting something that some Beaumont residents need. Councilman Roger Berg remained firm in his position that allowing dispensaries would be in violation of federal law. The reason for prohibiting medical marijuana dispensaries, according to the ordinance, is "to promote the health, safety, morals, and general welfare of the residents and businesses within the City." Yucaipa resident Marla Green attended Tuesday night's council meeting. "I'm here as a patient," she said. Green said she has fibromyalgia. She urged the council to consider allowing medical marijuana collectives. Members of such collectives grow and cultivate marijuana for medical purposes. "There's a lot of sick people in San Bernardino County that could benefit from this," she said. Mayor Jeff Fox said the council was only forbidding for-profit dispensaries and has directed staff to look into collectives. Beaumont is a city in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 11,384 at the 2000 census. | |

Rep Power: 123 | Re: Technical difficulties... enough with the rumors, here is what IS happening. Beaumont is in the process of banning dispensaries, if you look at the paperwork you signed to get into mec you will notice that mec is NOT a dispensary, they are a COLLECTIVE, hence the name MOTHER EARTH COLLECTIVE, they are totally legal, what happend was the city came in and gave them a hard time about the construction they had done, and said they couldnt open till they fixed it and had the proper inspections, at least that is what i was told. My friend who is also a member of mec said they called him and told him the same thing and that he would need to fill out some more paperwork the next time he came in, after they reopen. hopefully everything works out for mec, they were doing a great thing for this area. |

The supreme court just told san bernardino and sandiego county to shut the fuck up and obey state laws. Lets see how many other cops and drug warriors are going to think they are the judicial and start trying to be judge jury and executioner. |
