Rep Power: 57 | Re: whats the best edible for pain and or sleep? It's tough with edibles. Hit and miss really. I've had some really great (taste and effect) cookies, brownies, lollipops, candy bars, etc and some really bad ones too. Everyone's body is different regarding absorbtion rates & percentages, and it'll take some testing to see what works best for your conditions. I have found success with Bud'ters Cookies, Chef Boyarweed and a couple others. I have found Bliss, Tainted and a few others to be inconsistent with regards to strength and flavor. When they do work, they kick butt, but when they don't, it's like eating a bad tasting candy bar for no reason. Find a couple of dispensaries in your area (or afar, whatever suits you) that carry a decent to good lineup of edibles and ask them what they think is best. Try a few different brands to get an idea of how medicating their products are and then all that's left is finding flavors/styles you like. If you have a sensitive pallate, try edibles made with oil instead of butter (for a less "green"/"grass" taste) and stay away from chocolate bars to start, or at least moderate your consumption at the begining. Too many people I know have eaten a whole bar only to find 2 hours later they were way too medicated. Stay away from edibles made with Sativa, at least at night, if you seek pain relief and a sleep aid. Good luck and please let us know what works for you. Rep Power: 15 | this helps soo much i never even thought to get a few different brands and try them and i never thought to ask if they used sativa or indica in the products. i assumed they wouldnt know what the baker used. ive wanted to try marinol but the price is insane and ive heard that i would be way better off making my own so i can get it as potent as i need for sleep. i feel like i have to ask the poeple in chemo treatment for what is good for pain becuase alot of people dont understand that even though im only 26 im talking about PAIN squared! its hard to find people who understand how devistating arthritis is. thanks for the info! love and peace, boogaloo |

Anytime! And I understand your pain. It sucks being young and having to deal with any pain at all. Heck, I'm sure it sucks being old and dealing with pain. Pain in general sucks. Otherwise I think they'd call it bliss. :) Marinol is NOT for pain though. It's for nausea and appetite stimulation. Just so you know. I took it for 2 years to kill the nausea created by the cocktail of prescription drugs I was taking at the time. My doctor precscribed it to increase my appetite as well. Cannabis has helped my kick a good amount of those drugs, and I stopped taking Marinol. It's a rip off to say the least! I think it came out to approx $35/pill for Marinol. 6 months after starting my script on it, I started smoking cannabis instead. That $35 went a lot further through a water-pipe, joint and vaporizer than it did in pill form. Marinol also only lasts a couple hours (they say 4-6, more like 2-3 if you're lucky) and takes time to take effect. Not instant like smoking/vaporizing. Marinol also will not help with sleep. It's a synthetic cannabis subsitute, designed to aid in relieving nausea and increasing appetite in cancer and HIV/AIDS patients. The dispensary operators should know if the edibles are made with sativa or indica. If they don't know, don't buy 'em. Not worth the risk of thinking you're gonna die, like that dumb cop and his wife, cuz your heart is racing 100 miles a second and you're having panic attacks. Indica's will help with pain and sleep, whether you eat or smoke them | |

Rep Power: 0 | I have not had very good luck with edibles purchaed myself. I have had better results making them myself. Find a good recipe for oil or butter. Once you have made that you can use your pot butter or oil in place of regular in any thing you make from eggs to brownies. You can even buy packaged mixes at the store and use your pot oil instead of vegatable oil. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: whats the best edible for pain and or sleep? I've had excellent relief with tincture for RA. Taken orally it assimilates readily - much faster than edibles, is highly doseable, and provides superior, natural, sleep. It can be applied topically also. It is outstanding as a muscle/joint relaxant for PT/Yoga. Be sure to use the BC recipe (baking the cannabis, heat the ethanol, etc.) as that makes a more potent extraction. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: whats the best edible for pain and or sleep? I've seen a dozen recipes. What's the best butter recipe? You use an ounce to a pound of butter or a half ounce to a pound of butter? The one on YouTube confused me because it started out with grinding 10g of buds, then strained the buds out later and said to save them. Then it said something about discarding stems and leaves, but it never said anything about adding stems and leaves. I need a good strong butter to last me through a day at school since I can't smoke there. I figure like a cookie or brownie in the morning and then one at lunch while I'm there as a pick-me-up. Rep Power: 546 | Re: whats the best edible for pain and or sleep? Aloha Folks! I'm a GOUT suffer since 85 when i graduated High School! You know i bought two brownies that were "Triple" loaded they both had "XXX" on the package! The first pak i cut the brownie in half, ate the half watched some TV and closed my eyes and about 7:45pm, i woke up 9am the following morning! painless and one helluva grin on my face! Oh Yah! I ate the second half when i felt the begging of a acute gout attack and woke up feeling the same as before. My second pack i decided to cut the brownie if 4 equal squares, this time i wanted to try something. So when i felt an attack coming i waited until i was hurting and i ate that 1/4 brownie, sat there watching Pirate's 3 when i started feeling "loopie" i stood up and the room was spinning! Wow so i sat down again until i got use to the head rush and i was able to walk around, i knew what i was doing, i knew where i was going, i had control of myself and my surrounding! BUT man i felt DAM GOOD! no pain, it disappeared as fast as i came along! I have been so happy and satisfied with Medical Marijuana i tossed out my Indomethicine & Cholchicine the meds i've been taking for pain that have been messing up my stomach and had me sitting on my toilet that with in an hour i went to at least 3 times! A nice triple x brownie and some Indica and a Vaporizor. Ahhh! Hilyf Heaven! What i did with my last 1/4 peice of brownie! Ate it and this time VAPED a Sativa! Wow! I felt like Capt. Jack Sparrow and Darth Vader! Mellow yet i felt like ruling the universe! Medical Maraijuana is a LyF SaVeR! If i was in a sinking ship don't toss me a Life Saver! Pack my Vaporizer toss it to me with my Waterproof matches and let me die HAPPY! :o) |

Rep Power: 556 | Re: whats the best edible for pain and or sleep? boogaloo....I too have OA, DJD, DDD, RSD, Nerve Damage, Blown Discs, and now I've just started treatment for Hep C. (Pegasys and Ribavirin) I've found like many others, that making my own medibles is the way to go. I prefer to make my own oil and/or budder and then make the medibles from that. I've found that if I make cupcakes, it's a big enough dose in a small enough medible. I've started making "green milk" (I believe it's in the recipes thread...but I could be wrong..lol) and take a quart of milk, throw in 1/8-1/4 of good Indica meds. Bring to a boil and then turn down and simmer for an hour. (be careful not to scorch) After an hour, turn off milk and allow to come to room temp before packaging back up and refrigerating. I've been using about 4 grams and if I'm lucky, a gram of kief in a quart of milk.....it lasts for the week and I only have to drink a couple of ounces. Works great for insomnia, pain, mucsle spasms, nausea, aches and other nuisances. I find for chronic pain and insomnia, Indicas work much better. Hope this helps. Peace and One Love, Free |
