Sorry about your pain; damn weather! Here's a thread by learned aficionado Morpheus from Cornerstone on the ways cannabis acts in the brain, including analgesia: http://www.weedtracker.com/forums/sh...ain#post244906 He also gave this advice to a chronic pain patient: "As an aside for fibro patients suffering from chronic pain.... A very good friend, who's a patient and has struggled with fibro for many years, recommends purple or blue strains for fibro pain. Of our regular strains, that would include Affie, Grape Ape, Purple Urkel, and Blue. Studies have shown that cannabis can reduce, in some patients, the need for additional analgesics." - Morpheus Hope this helps! | |

As you probably already know, there is no treatment for our disease. 'Cept for exercise. This is the only thing between us and a permanent stay on the couch. As much as it hurts, get out and walk, stoop, stretch and bend. It's the only defense we have. The pain will diminish with movement, unfortunately, it will only come back in another location. - |

Rep Power: 12 | Re: Osteoarthritis: what works best ? degenrative dieseases are a serious disorder and its a joint proplem...anything high in cbc content will help....id stay away from sativa's as they might heighten the pain or at least a good sativa that is high in potency...or hybrids that have soaring highs that give you motivation crossed with an indica that numbs your body....also...keif and goo, less plant matter...mostly thc. ...more medication, lasting over regular green plant matter...and the capt. is right...move those joints...the less time they have to contracture and the more movement they are given the less the likely you will get those morning pains, and stiffened joints...just dont over do your routines...hope that helped. m. Rep Power: 546 | Re: Osteoarthritis: what works best ? Aloha Y'all :o) I lived in Las Vegas for a few years, went to UNLV. I have been posting at this Arthritis Subject Forums and learned alot and i have also gave my POV. So, Ya Vegas is good for arthritis because of the desert's dry heat! BUT! and this is a very important BUT!!! In the winter Vegas gets very! very! COLD and flair ups can happen. As for me & my GOUT the winters in Vegas Kicked My @$$!!! It's the two extreme's in Vegas, Very Hot then Very Cold. Then of course those DARN Casino's, true when you live there the huge casino's aren't as attractive as they were when you were the visitor. It's the medium sized casino's aimed at the LOCALS! Plus you put 10 dollars in a nickel slot and sit there you get FREE drinks as long as the BUTT is glued to that chair!! Plus Vegas isn't really that much of a big deal these days, there are the rich, the poor & the retired THAT's it. No middle class. You move to Vegas from CA a Middle Class Family, 2 to 4 years you'll be poor or the retired poor! and kickin yourself in the @$$ saying Why! GOD! WHY!!!! My mother got real sick in Vegas and got a triple By-Pass! And i MOVED her back to San Diego then here to Temecula! Ya Vegas good for Arthritis! Vegas bad for the soul! NOW: i agree with some who post here that INDICA's R DA BES for arthritis of all kinds! They Num my brain and shut off the pain receptors and i fall to sleep! - BUT - I wake up 8 to 10 hours later and my body is saying, "Nah ahh! stay here no need to get up!" Lucky for me when i was done with the Indica, i loaded my VAPE with a nice mid-sativa and put it on my side table and said C U 2MARROW!! Morning is here so i move to my side, fold my pillow in half so i have that quarter tilt of my head, reach for that VAPE and take two okay three nice sativa hits! BAM! i'm up, in the shower and ready to work!! I'm self employed so i'll confront the BOSS later! Oh wait I am the BOSS! My punishment! Dust that Sativa that's still on my side table! Yessir :o) I live high-ply ever after :o) |

Rep Power: 0 | Hi there ,I've had Osteoarthritis for over a decade ,and Capt. ZigZag is completely correct in my view. I read that what our medicine does,is allow us to deal with the pain.Indica is best for me.Remember what the Capt. said about exercise. This is a must! I take my meds while I exercise.Works for me. Kindest Personal Regards, Jim S , The Eco Group Collective. |

Rep Power: 54391 | Re: Osteoarthritis: what works best ? Church OG more than any other strain gives ME no head effect at all but I feel like my body is numb. Also look for a dispensary that sells Moms Cannabalm a coco butter balm that really helps my knees. Leave the pure sativas alone they are just natural speed and that does make joints hurt. Good luck. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Osteoarthritis: what works best ? I'm only 21 and I have god awful Osteoarthritis all over my body. I live in Huntington Beach. It's better than living in Missouri where it's going to snow like hell this winter. Fuck that. Cold BAD. It does get cold here in Huntington Beach but that's what jackets and fleece pants are for. The closer you are to the water the cooler it is. The farther you go inland the hotter it gets. I like being near the water. I like to swim. I like some Pineapple Express for my pain. It's 80% indica. It won't knock you out but it will knock out the pain. Skunk is good if you want to just pass the fuck out and stay in dreamland for a while. I always have pain no matter what the weather is like and no matter where I live. Rain gives me a lot more pain that sunny weather. It's the barometric pressure. Bad on the joints and brain. Makes everything swell up and balloon. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Osteoarthritis: what works best ? I have Osteoarthritis, and what i have discovered through many trials and growing seasons is that the sativa's strains do not assist in any manner for pain management. Indica's and Hybrids do, depending on the percentages. A hybrid of 60% indica with 40% afgani is the best. I grow older strains like Ogre, Sweet tooth, and Hindu Kush, although this season we are growing, Sour D since it is a middle to high yield producer and the strain keeps strong even after six months of storage.I am allergic to several major pain killer medication due to food allergies, so it is important to me to grow strains that take care of pain management. I am past the point of being able to exercise the pain away, as i do not have cartilage in knees, ankles and hips as it is progressive. Growing more than one kind of medicinal allows for variety for days when the pain levels are 15 on a scale of 1-10 I like to make combination's with the strains so it is not just one kind of smoke. The resultant medication point is better as is the variety. Namaste |
