What About the Postcards?

Hello, ASA Members and Friends !

Some of you are wondering what to do with the left over postcards to Governor Schwarzenegger now that the October 11 mobilization is over. The answer is get them signed and mail them in! The campaign to persuade the Governor (and other elected officials) to stand up for medical cannabis patients’ rights is still in full swing, and your voice still matters.

We distributed over 40,000 postcards as part of this campaign. When I met with Governor’s Chief Health Care advisor and LA Office Director, she was very aware of the flood of incoming postcards, emails, and phone calls. She assured us that the Governor was listening. Putting grassroots numbers behind our request for action lets the Governor and his staff know that there is a sizable constituency looking for leadership on this issue.

Incidentally, the postcards are a great ice-breaking tool when you are doing outreach in collectives or other public places. It is a very simple “ask” for supporters, and can open the door to getting a signature on a petition or signing up a new ASA member.

Thanks for all your hard work so far. Let’s keep it up!

Check out our asks for the Governor and get information about how to contact his office at http://www.AmericansForSafeAccess.org/StandUp
