Let's Make Sure He Hears Us Loud and Clear!

Dear ASA Supporter,

Last Friday, ASA California Director, Don Duncan, and I met with Governor Schwarzenegger’s Chief Advisor for Health and Transportation, who also happens to be the Director of his Los Angeles office to ask that he stand up against the Bush Administration’s attack on patients and providers. For background about the campaign urging Governor Schwarzenegger to stand up for patients rights, visit www.AmericansforSafeAccess.org/StandUp.

The meeting went quite well. After an hour of discussing the victimization of patients and providers in California, and the urgent need for an intervention by the Governor, his advisor assured us that his office was well aware of the issue and has been receiving hundreds of postcards from ASA’s supporters. We ended the meeting with his advisor asking us to tell our constituents they have the Governor’s ear, and he is listening.

This is a key benchmark in our campaign to urge Governor Schwarzenegger to stand up for California’s patients, providers, and medical cannabis laws. Knowing that we have the Governor’s ear is even more of a reason to mobilize to his Los Angeles office this Thursday, October 11th at 12:00pm, and let him hear loud and clear that California’s citizens need representation! We need protection from the federal government! We need him to stand up and fight for California’s sick and dying patients! Click Here for details about the rally.

I would love to think my governor would do the right thing, but I'm afraid he'll retreat if put in the spotlight on this issue (it's the easy, safe thing to do).

...he's had extensive first hand knowledge as a consumer. He should get our backs big-time at the rally from hereafter, or...he's...a hypocrite! I know Gray Davis would have run not only the state better, but he would have stood up for our rights' a long time ago.

Hopefully, 10/11 is the day the gov lets loose on the DEA.

Maria is a very compassionate person, she has shown that over and over again. Her whole family has....and yes, I am sure she has much disdain towards Bush.

We all know who has the power in a relationship I am afraid to admit...so sleeping to a back might bug Arnie if Maria said no more nookie because you are not being compassionate!

I hate to say it but I really don't think Arnold cares at all about MMJ patients. I wrote to Arnold's office about MMJ several weeks ago and the response I received is that the DEA raids on MMJ facilities is a "federal problem."

If the man has any balls, he should step up and try to protect the patients in the golden state.

OFF TOPIC: It would be a screamingly funny cheech and chong movie, them stumbling across a plot to kidnap some governor's ear and foiling it with typically stoner zaniness and wisdom.

ON TOPIC: I called the governator today (along with all our other state and congressional reps) to ask him to intervene on behalf of Ellise B. the LA Mother-Activist whose three-month-old infant San Bernardino CPS kidnapped this weekend on account of her MMJ use.

It's good to hit him up now from all different directions about anything MMJ, in the lead-up to the ASA demo in LA.

Demand he do his job, respect his oath to the constitution that says he will uphold state law before any other, and let our people grow.

This is one more important step in the process and those who remain skeptical need to continue to persevere...presidential elections are coming and new hope along with it...Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico stood up to federal threats of persecution by Bush & the DEA and fired off a letter eloquently pointing out the folly of the current drug war policies. Let us continue to hold out hope for our Governor to do the right thing and stand defiantly against Bush along side Bill Richardson...what would Bush do if 12 Governors refused to cooperate with the DEA anymore in cannabis busts, lock 12 state leaders up...sounds kind of third world country eh?

The time to defy the federal government is now before they gain anymore power over our freedoms.

I was planning on attending this "protest" or unification, whatever you call it. It just dawned on me this morning (no pun intended), that it is minimum day for the kids today. I don't think I would make it back in time to pick up the kids, so I will be "Up on the Roof" looking down. If someone is going to be there for me, just let the governor know "Power to the People"...

we know he is listen nowadays vs a few yrs ago when the offices wouldnt return any kind of contact.now whether or not arnie's actually listen or in support is to be seen but with his veto of hemp i dont really see him doing this. how can we get him to state where he stands..... Elections are coming and someone else might be in office, does this mean we have do this all over again insearch of state support?

for me i would like to know how we can get the state no matter whos in office to support us in ever fashion ?.......

There is extensive marijuana use in the bodybuilding world for a number of reasons:

1. The pain relief after 2-3 hours of lifting weights a day.

2. The calming effects to balance out the extreme hormone shifts brought about by steroid use.

The governor is big on voter initiatives (think of all the ones he's put on the ballot) so stay positive and consistent and he might be responsive. It's not like he can run for President so he might as well do what he thinks is right. His own use hasn't hurt him.
