Exclamation URGENT: Act Now to Protect the Jobs of California Medical Marijuana Patients!

URGENT: Act Now to Protect the Jobs of California Medical Marijuana Patients!
Call Your State Senator Right Now!

Dear ASA Supporter,

This week, the California Senate will vote on an ASA-sponsored bill that will
establish employment rights for hundreds of thousands of medical cannabis
patients throughout California. AB 2279, which has already passed the State
Assembly, has the support of three labor unions representing nearly one million
workers in California.

Now it’s crunch time! The bill could come for a vote at any time this week,
and we need to know it has enough votes to pass! Just take 3 minutes to call
your state senator and tell him or her to support AB 2279 to give medical
cannabis patients the right to work!

The bill, sponsored by Assembly Member Mark Leno (D-San Francisco), will negate
a recent California Supreme Court ruling, which stated that employers can fire
workers just for being legal medical cannabis patients, legitimizing job
discrimination for seriously ill Californians. ASA’s law will protect
patients who strive to be productive members of society.

Thanks to all of you have sent emails in the past, but we need personal phone
calls from constituents right now! Your call will make all the difference.

To find contact information for your State Senator, visit
http://www.AmericansForSafeAccess.org/FindCASenator. Enter your address and
you will be directed to the phone number for your State Senator.

Please call your State Senator right now to ask for his/her support!

Here is a sample script to use:

“Hi, my name is ____________ , and I live in _____________.

"I’m calling to ask that Senator ______ support AB 2279, the Workers Rights
to Medical Marijuana Act. This bill will prevent employers from discriminating
against legal medical cannabis patients, and will reverse a court decision that
puts more than 200,000 California citizens in jeopardy of losing their jobs
without due cause.”

Thank you for supporting ASA and our efforts to secure the rights of California
medical marijuana patients.

Sincerely,

Don Duncan
California Director
Americans for Safe Access

i picked up post cards for this at my doctors office. i think it was brilliant to put all of the needed info on a card and just leave the activist to sign and send it out.

Patients can come to Western Caregivers and sign a letter to the governor to pass this law.
