Rep Power: 134 | An Update on ASA’s CA Campaign Protecting Safe Access in California Dear ASA Supporters, On Thursday, ASA activists took a critical step in our campaign to urge Governor Schwarzenegger to stand up for patients’ rights. Over 300 medical cannabis supporters from around the state gathered with colorful signs and banners in front of the Governor’s Los Angeles office, chanting “Support patients’ rights, stand up and fight." Brian Perry, LA City Council Member Dennis Zine's spokesperson, read a powerful statement at the rally, saying to the Governor, "I would like to ask you to call on the President, Congress, and the DEA to end the federal raids and intimidation of legitimate medical marijuana patients and providers." Orange County Supervisor Chris Norby also sent a statement calling for the Governor to act. Other speakers joining me included ASA Executive Director, Steph Sherer and Michael Martin, a former medical marijuana edible manufacturer who was recently raided by the DEA. We are hoping the rally will be the tipping point that we have been waiting for. This campaign has included generating over 40,000 postcards to the Governor, as well as hundreds of phone calls and emails, all urging him to take action to defend patients’ rights. It also followed a successful meeting I had with Governor Schwarzenegger’s Chief Advisor for Health and Transportation, to ask that the Governor stand up against the Bush Administration’s attack on patients and providers. ASA prepared extensive materials for the Governor’s office, detailing the problems patients and providers face and explaining what the Governor could do to help. You can find all of these documents at the bottom of hte page ofwww.AmericansForSafeAccess.org/StandUp. Thursday’s rally and the entire campaign have been very successful, but ASA is not content to stop here. We are employing several strategies to keep California patients and providers safe, including: Coalition Building – Networking and coordinating with individuals and other organizations to build the state coalition promoting safe and legal access to cannabis for therapeutic use and research. Special focus will be paid to the fields of health care and condition-based advocacy. Legislation – Working with chapters and affiliates across the state to pass local ordinances and support state-wide legislative efforts, covering issues such as sales tax, child protective services, dispensary regulations, police policies, and non-cooperation with federal law enforcement. Constituent Lobbying – Training and coordinating citizen lobbyists to engage with local and state officials using professional skills and strategic messaging. Public Education – Publishing reports, position papers, press releases, media advisories, editorials, booklets, and other materials needed to educate citizen-lobbyists, elected officials, and the electorate. Capacity Building – Training and mobilizing the grassroots constituency through local chapters and affiliates, as well as skills-based training events and materials. Emergency Raid Response – Organizing and publicizing emergency response actions in response to federal and local law enforcement activity. Organizing Collectives - ASA has seeded autonomous alliance of collectives in Sacramento, Berkeley, San Mateo, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, and Orange County with the purpose of developing and implementing self-regulatory models for collectives. Proactive and Reactive Litigation – Litigating groundbreaking cases dealing with return of property, employment discrimination, and collective bans. Thank you to everyone who has participated in ASA’s statewide campaigns. You have made all of our successes possible, and we look forward to your future participation to help keep this movement strong. Please look out for future messages from ASA on ways you can help to protect access and patients in California. Sincerely, Don Duncan Interim California Campaign Director Americans for Safe Access P.S. The only way we can continue work like this here in California is with support from people like you. Please visit www.AmericansforSafeAccesss.org/Donate today to become a member of ASA. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Americans for Safe Access is the nation's largest organization of patients, medical professionals, scientists and concerned citizens promoting safe and legal access to cannabis for therapeutic use and research. |

The reason you can't login is because you were banned from that board. Please don't drag what happened on that board to this one. I'm asking politely. Let WT be your new start. Don't start an ASA bashfest over being banned here. Please?

Rep Power: 0 | Re: An Update on ASA’s CA Campaign Quicky, I haven't spent much time here, but I've already seen your zeal for bashing patients. Quote:
In fact, I meant to report that post but never got around to it, so thanks for reminding me. And by the way, as I stated in that other thread, on average a cancer, AIDS or chronic pain patient uses slightly more than an oz a WEEK... So do me a favor, don't give me any advice. I don't want your advice. And if I get banned from here for speaking the truth, so be it. And if you're a big honcho here, I certainly don't want to be here. Now unless you're a moderator, I would like to take this opporunity to demand that in the future you take any advice you want to give me and shove it up your ass sideways. And if anyone has a problem with that, you can ban me or I'll leave now. And as for dragging anything anywhere, when I see a sow's ear being sold as a silk purse I damn well will say something about it. I remember well when Dennis Peron and John Entwistle were busted in Utah, and I looked to Pot-TV news for some details, and Kubby got up there and said, "Peron's a pro, they'll be fine. Don't worry about them." And then went on to beg for money and support for Emery and co. Just one example of many many many. Well, Emery's a pro, he'll be fine. Don't worry about him. You do a disservice to patients and the movement when you protect and cover for people that sell tainted medicine. And ban anyone who dares to raise their voice in protest. Or asks basic simple questions like "Do you test for pesticide." Banning me for asking the question and raising the issue is not helpful to patients, or the movement. It is a knife in the back of both the movement and patients. Nor would I want anything to do with an organization that would, instead of advocating for testing for pesticides and other contaminants, ban me for raising the issue. And neither would anyone with any intelligence or integrity. I was not the bad guy. I asked, politely, a simple question. And was trashed for it, and banned. Which made my point far better than I ever could. Now, quicky, unless and until I'm banned, as I said, please take any advice you wish to offer me and shove it up your ass sideways. Rep Power: 0 | Re: An Update on ASA’s CA Campaign But I bet they had no problem begging you, probably sick and disabled, to get out and walk a picket line in the 120-40 degree desert sun - suffering not only extreme discomfort, but possible arrest and imprisonment, for the service of selling you overpriced poison, while telling you to keep quiet about it for "the good of the movement". The fact is, if any psychosis or other psychiatric problem is experienced from using cannabis, it is almost always pesticides. And that includes the paranoia frequently attributed to cannabis use, as well as anxiety attacks. |

in the early stages when we were getting some of our medicine from our friend the bud fairy, the company was in its infant stages and the issue of pesticides and molds as contaminents were, and somewhat still are, on the back burner of regulation issues. We forwarded the issue by reading doctorate papers from the American Nurses Association about food and medicinal safety regarding these types of contaminents. From the beginning we always insisted on cooking the medicine at 350 plus degrees for over an hour. (The ANA recommends 30 minutes) to ensure the proper removal of contaminents and mold. We always created a ghee product which was skimmed for impurities and filtered before ever reaching a food product. As we went on we came to develop our own medicines and work very closely with any gardners that supplied our medicine to ensure safety and stability in the medicine in our products. We did independent testing of our medicines to ensure consistency and always led the charge for more regulations and standards in the world of medical cannabis, wether it be smoked or non-smoked forms. We are proud of the great lengths we were able to bring the industry by setting positive examples and implementing higher standards in our production methods. I understand your need to speak out on the horrific injustices that may have lead to the unfortunate death of our godmother the budfairy, but please do not serve an injustice to the community by attempting to demean others efforts with little you know about intimately, and regurgitating hearsay. this community has enough of that. if you want to talk about Snickers please PM me or email me at freetainted@yahoo.com. She is a special sould and does not need to be spoken about without permision and especially in light of what happened to us regarding her history with the movement. I am more than happy to answer any of your questions to set the record straight, but now is neither the time or the place. take a deep breath and use some discression with your seemingly wreckless accusations and your ill-informed knowledge about the inner-workings of our organization and the movement in general. Name-dropping is for people with low-self esteem. let us not go there.

But after reading that, I'm glad I left it in. We have far too many sacred cows in this pasture. And not a one of them holy. Or even close. And as for needing permission to speak about someone? Uh, no. At least not in the America I grew up in. I guess you live in a different country. Have I earned a pair of broken legs yet?

Noone is saying anything about a sacred cow. Simply stating that people have a right to privacy, especially when dealing with delicate matters such as cannabis as a medicine. Please do let this go. There are a lot of rules for this forum, but they all pretty much just boil down to respecting each member/staff. Please follow this simple rule, and welcome to the forums!

Everyone here does an excellent job of keeping the peace and acting like an adult. No ones saying you can't complain just don't be so arrogant or abusive towards anyone. Freedom was showing you every bit of respect regardless of how hard you were attacking them. Be a rational human being and share some compassion and just write Freedom privately. Now that I'm done ranting about that. To the ASA keep up the good work, and keep fighting the good fight! |

Rep Power: 216 | Re: An Update on ASA’s CA Campaign ASA rocks. Anyone who has been lucky enough to be involved firsthand with this outstanding organization, as I have, would know the wonders that a small dedicated group of people can do to further the freedoms patients enjoy today. The battle is long and difficult, but ASA has helped to bring the issue to the forefront of dialogue in places and with people that has brought real change and progress towards making the goal of cannabis therapeutics freedoms a more certain reality. |
