Is there a ASA voter guide?

I need information on 29th District US Representative candidates, State Senator, and 44th District State Assembly candidates. I also need info for the Judicial races, 72, 82, 84, 94, and 154. I am interested in which ones are MMJ friendly (and other issues of course).

Thanks
Bruno

Re: Is there a ASA voter guide?

In years past there have been recommendations made by staff to me, but I am not sure they put out an "official" position list. It would be a good idea, but it also dabbles into non-medical cannabis related and hot button issues. It would be great to have a comprehensive list of officials running that support medical cannabis. I will check into it.

ASA doesn't put out a voter's guide. They also don't endorse candidates.

Re: Is there a ASA voter guide?

Is ASA a non profit organization?
If so, they best not suggest, nor endorse anyone. Way too easy to lose their non profit status for doing so.

Well, the ASA pretty much would have to stand on the local politicians here, since bullshit is taking up so much of the space, immediately surrounding them!

Re: Is there a ASA voter guide?

There's a couple of good resources with proposals on the ballot.

Check out:

I don't think there's a comprehensive list of every candidate, every issue, from every county. It would be nice though.

Congressman Mike Thompson was-> Re: Is there a ASA voter guide?

Mike Tompson 1st dist rep (nothern cal) http://mikethompson.house.gov/ is a totally great guy and here's some info on him and his p215 support =

Mike Thompson repersents California's First Congressional District. One of the largest districts in the nation stretching from the San Francisco Bay Area up the North Coast to the Oregon Border.
  • Mike Thompson (D-CA) cosponsors Barney Frank (D-MA)
"States Rights to Medical Marijuana Act."
  • Thompson honored for medical marijuana work:
The Humboldt County branch of Americans for Safe Access, or ASA, an organization advocating safe and legal access to medical cannabis, honored North Coast Congressman Mike Thompson on Tuesday.
ASA has dubbed the week of Feb. 15 “Medical Marijuana Awareness Week.” To celebrate, ASA is honoring Thompson in support of his “ongoing awareness and work for medical cannabis patients rights.”
According to the proclamation, Thompson co-sponsored and voted for the States Right to Medical Marijuana Act and voted for an amendment to prevent federal prosecution of state-authorized medical marijuana patients and care givers.
  • California lawmakers stand up for medical cannabis North Coast Congressman Mike Thompson (D) co-sponsored Frank's bill. "I am supportive of efforts to allow states that have legalized marijuana for medicinal purposes to implement their own laws without federal intrusion," Thompson said. "I commend him for wanting to introduce a bill that respects the laws states have made for their own people and hope that this bill is a compromise that the Republican leadership can move forward."
  • North Coast Congressman Mike Thompson, voted Wednesday in support of a measure that would have prohibited the Department of Justice from interfering with states' medical marijuana laws. The amendment to the Science, Commerce, Justice and State Appropriations bill, authored by Democratic Rep. Maurice Hinchey of New York, was defeated by a vote of 264 to 161. Thompson said he was disappointed and that the matter is not over. "This is an issue of compassion and common sense," he said. "In the age of corporate scandals and terrorism, the Department of Justice has responsibilities far more important than arresting cancer patients."
