Rep Power: 14 | * Take Action to Protect OC Patients * Dear Orange County medical marijuana supporter, Please take action to protect Orange County’s medical marijuana patients! The Orange County Board of Supervisors will soon be conducting a hearing to decide whether or not to immediately move forward with implementation of the statewide medical marijuana ID card program. Participation in the program is entirely voluntary for patients and their caregivers; however the county is required, by law, to make the program available. Once the program is in place, Orange County patients and caregivers will be able to obtain the ID cards through a confidential program administered by the county's Health Services Agency. The program works to protect cardholders from unnecessary arrest, detainment or the seizure of medicine by state and local law enforcement. Law enforcement officials in Orange County have a dismal track record when it comes to respecting California’s medical marijuana laws. This is why it is imperative that the ID card program be implemented without any further delays. Please take a few minutes to to send an e-mail to the County Board of Supervisors, expressing your support for this important program (by clicking here). The success of our local efforts relies on your participation and support. With your help, implementation of our state's compassionate medical marijuana laws can finally become a reality in Orange County. The Board of Supervisors hearing is scheduled for March 27. In order to be successful, we will need as many patients and supporters in attendance as possible. Please stay tuned, more details will be sent in the near future. Please take action only if you actually live in Orange County. If you are not a resident of Orange County, please forward this message to any family or friends you may have there. Thank you for helping to ensure that medical marijuana patients in your county will be able to enjoy the full benefits of our state's medical marijuana laws. Sincerely, Aaron Smith Safe Access Now Online action page, provided by Americans for Safe Access: http://www.americansforsafeaccess.org/OCIDCardAction |
