A new user asked me to repost this as a new thread since they are unable...

Thursday, October 4, Oakland: Press Conference to Speak Out Against DEA Raids in Oakland

On September 26th, the DEA attacked Tainted, Inc., an Oakland edible manufacturing company, by raiding several of its facilities, arresting 3 employees, and shooting an employee's dog. Thousands of California patients rely on ingesting medical cannabis through edibles. These raids have severely limited their safe access.

These raids must end! Join us on Thursday to show solidarity for all medical
cannabis providers and for the four victims who have been charged in connection to the Oakland raids.

What: Press Conference Speaking Out Against Raids in Oakland
When: Thursday, October 4th at 9:00am
Where: Oakland Federal Building at 1301 Clay St.
What to Wear: Business Professional Attire

Officially "Show up late for work day in the Bay Area." I hope to see many supporters out in force to stop the madness that is occuring with our patients and providers. This was a very publicized story and it is important that we use this opportunity to stand up for the rights of California. We are all responsible for creating the change we want to see in our community and if at all possible please come out to support these fine folks and their efforts to provide safe and effective medicine to needy patients.

Maybe we can figure out how to get people transportation out if necessary. Any ideas?

Hi. Well, the instructions for the event recommends wearing "business professional attire" clothing, so that pretty much knocks out about 99% of WTers, or any medical patient for that matter.

C'mon. I know WTers got court clothes stashed away somewhere. LOL. Collared shirt would be fine I am sure or even a "clean" t-shirt. I guess it just depends on what "business" is your "profession.

Let me know if we can help folks w arranging carpools. I'm in SoCal but maybe the site can help arrange things.

Yeah, grab a buddy and an extra button shirt and you should be set. Maybe we can bring a bag of nice shirts for those in need. :) We need to defend patient and provider rights on a local, national and global level. Snacks anyone? maybe we can organize coffe and croissants or something. 9 am can come early but it is worth it to defend our State's Rights for sure. This must stop. Free the Tainted 4!!!

If you're talking about transportation within the Bay Area, it's VERY accessible by BART or by AC Transit bus. The 12th Street BART station is less than a block away (if you exit towards City Center). Also, nearly every AC Transit line stops at Broadway and 14th, which is just 3 blocks away.

I would really like to be there but have transportation issue from LA because I do not fly. Anybody from LA heading up there that has an empty seat. I am more than willing to help pay the fuel.

Jack London Square has a nice Inn that is in a nice neighborhood or anyhting in Emeryville is kosher as well. The downtown Marriott is right near the federal building as well as the Oakland COurtyard. Hope that helps.
