Please Bring A Book To The ASA Meeting This Saturday

Please bring a paperback book to the ASA meeting on Saturday. Not because you'll need a way to pass the time (ASA meeting are never boring) but because next Saturday marks the kick-off of a program Stephanie Landa has started in prison.

As many of you are aware, she's been moved to a higher security cell block. In these facilities the women tend to get into a lot of fights. Stephanie has persuaded the prison brass to let her start a book program. Her thinking is that it's hard to fight with others when your nose is stuck in a book.

She needs paperback books in the worst way, on any subject, particularly paperback dictionaries and reference works. She cannot receive books that discuss marijuana or other things illegal at the federal level but everything else is fair game.

Many of the women in the prison are reading at well below their age level, so if you've got kids in junior high/high school who want to get rid of their paperbacks, those are most welcome as well

Please clean out your bookcase and bring those paperbacks with you to the meeting. We will take care of getting them to the prison for you.

Sadly, the prison will not accept hardback books, we can only send paperbacks.

This is an important meeting for another reason, attendees will be working on the Charles Lynch rally. This rally will take place on the day he's sentenced and so it's particularly important. Please come if you can, books or no books in hand.

Here is all the information on Saturday's ASA Meeting:

Hello, LA-ASA Members and friends. Our next meeting will be on Saturday,
January 17, at 1:00 PM. Cheryl will be facilitating the meeting and talking
about a rally in support of medical cannabis defendants following the
sentencing of Charles C. Lynch on February 23. We need to show the media,
elected officials, and the judge that the community cares what happens to
Charles and the other defendants. Find out how you can help send that
message on Saturday.

What: LA-ASA Meeting

When: 1 PM * Saturday, January 17, 2009

Where: Front room at the Patient ID Center, 470 S. San Vicente Blvd., LA
90048

There is another event happening at the Patient ID Center on Saturday, so
look for signs directing you to the right place.
