Exclamation Monday: Join the Movement

Monday: Join the Movement
Become a Member of ASA Today!

Welcome to Medical Marijuana Week! Today, we're calling on you to "Join the Movement" by becoming a member of ASA. Donate today and/or fill out our online activist survey.

In just four years, Americans for Safe Access (ASA) has become the largest organization in the country working solely on medical cannabis -- with more than 30,000 members in 78 cities working on our campaigns and projects!

Educating Patients, Policymakers, and the Public

ASA is now the nation's leading resource for up-to-date information on medical cannabis issues. To date, ASA has helped some 9,000 patients navigate the legal system, distributed general information and patient-focused materials to more than 50,000 patients, provided court support for 60 medical marijuana cases, conducted hundreds of trainings for more than 10,000 patients and advocates, organized over 2,000 meetings with elected officials, helped pass more than 30 local ordinances permitting medical cannabis dispensaries in California, organized more than 20 days of action concerning federal policies, and generated 200,000 calls and emails to Congress. In four years, ASA has generated 5,000 stories in the media.

Major Accomplishments
  • ASA successfully filed suit against California Highway Patrol, the largest law enforcement agency in the state, forcing CHP by consent decree to stop confiscating patients' medical cannabis and to comply with the mandates of Proposition 215.
  • ASA works with elected officials to enact sound ordinances regulating medical cannabis dispensing collectives (dispensaries). So far, 24 cities and 7 counties have given dispensaries protection and legitimacy under local law.
  • ASA turned the tide of media bias and indifference with a professional, proactive media strategy, making medical cannabis a page-one story nationwide. ASA is framing the national discourse on medical cannabis issues.
  • ASA has provided outreach services to countless collectives, including legal training, peer counseling, and media spokesperson training.

Take action by joining ASA today!

1. Donate to ASA: Take a moment right now to make a sustaining monthly pledge to defending safe access. Your monthly pledge of $10, $25, $50, or even $100 will let us know we have the resources to keep fighting for you!

2. Fill Out ASA's Activist Survey:
To join our active network of patients, doctors, attorneys, and supporters, please take a few minutes to fill out this survey on our members' interests. This will help us get you plugged in to the movement for safe access right away.

3. Spread the Word:
Forward this message widely to friends, co-workers, and family to encourage them to join you in the national movement to protect safe access!

Sincerely,

Steph Sherer
