Rep Power: 62165 | What will it take to forward this movement? Yesterday I attended a meeting held to mend fences in our movement for operators of MMJ Facilities. Aproxximately 20 people attended including several patients. The following is my response and advise to the people of the movement whether they be patients, patient advocates, providers or others. It is only my opinion however I believe deep in my heart that I am on target and hope this letter will help begin the full unifactaion of our movement. Quote: I spoke with thye planner during the early stages of the planning and development of this meeting I was under the understanding that the subject of this meeting was about mending fences and uniting our movement. I felt that this is not only a great idea but a much needed change in the movement. During the last couple of years I have observed partnership break ups, patient advocates not communicating with each other, collective operators not participating in governmental change, patients not participating and different groups getting formed performing the same duties as another and yet during this period there was much growth in the count of facilities such as ours. During this period I have personally been in the mix of two partnership break ups and yet still will sit at the table with those whom I may have been angry with to assist in moving this movement forward because this is about people that are sick or in need, about the rights of States to Govern themselves without the interference of the Federal Government and about our Brothers and Sisters in the movement whom now sit in Federal prisons for simply providing relief and a valuable service to their fellow man kind. Our movement has grown and suffered at the same time. I truly believe that it is time to heal all of those wounds that occasionally pop their heads up for all to see. I believe that instead of creating a "New GLACA" (trade organization) as was talked about in the meeting yesterday that we use the organizations that are currently operating and are structured and experienced to do what is needed to move ahead. I suggest that the patient advocacy groups get it together and agree to work in conjunction with each other when ever possible instead of not communicating with each other and constantly stepping on each others toes. I suggest that they sign agreements with each other to share schedules of events with each other well in advance so as not to step on each others events and to correlate and co-operate when similar missions are at hand and learn that it is not about who did this or who did that but instead that we all did actually do something to effect positive change. I believe if we all worked more together we would bring change quicker and more efficiently and as we effect change together I am willing to bet that all of these advocacy groups will see their work pay off in support from patients and providers alike if they took this attitude. While there where only twenty or so people there yesterday plus 3 patients (not operators) and I do not necessarily think that the meeting served the purpose initially intended I do feel that it was a step toward unifying or a least a first step. I think before any decisions are made that there should be at least one more meeting so that those whom would like to be there but had such short notice could not attend can have their voice heard also. I think my point is before building more tools learn how to improve and operate the ones that you have. I look forward to attending more meetings and have hope that we can do this all together not divided. Much Love & Respect JOV |

Rep Power: 62165 | Re: What will it take to forward this movement? I have heard reports of the following about our Patient Advocacy Groups (PAG's) 1) Stepping on each others toes quite frequently 2) Stating to public officials "Do not pay attention to that group ,because we represent the patients". 3) Fighting over whom gets credit for a paticular advancement in the movement. It seems to me that these groups whom preach patients rights should be a little more sencere in their missions and be willing to correlate their schedules so that more than one group or another are not having events on the same day, when missions are simular work together and generally work for the common good of patients everywhere. Our voice locally and in Washington could be so much stronger if only we where more united or at least gave some appearence of such. Next month we are attempting to get all of these groups together along with patients to share this message. I will be forwarding the results of this poll which will also be posted on other sites as well to these groups so that they hear the concern so please take the time to vote and post your comments. Thanks, JOV |

Rep Power: 62165 | Re: What will it take to forward this movement? We need no miracles! We only need to not work against one another,We need only to come together through or common goal and leave our differences behind. I believe that we have a unique opportunity this coming year and we should be prepared to stand as one. I am telling you folks to expect congressional hearings and I hope that we are ready, wait I am not gonna just hope,I am going to do all that I can to falicitate that change and preparation. Positive thought+positive action=positive reaction. |

Rep Power: 3615 | Re: What will it take to forward this movement? The best way to be conquered is to be divided. The only way I think that would be the strong push in the movement is the unification of all. This community is just full of great, strong and wise people. It shouldn't be hard to bring together. Its the ego, and pride that get in the way. We are all in it together. Who ever stands by cannabis is part of the movement, we all just have to figure out how to move the same direction :) People just need to understand the truth, is all. |
