Rep Power: 62165 | Los Angeles City Council Meeting 12/12/08 Dear Fellow patients and providers, Many of you know that there is a moratorium on collectives. Many of you may know that several patient advocates and patients themselves had sat on a working group to help the city staff (Whom have no knowledge of how a collective works) produce reasonable regulation. What many do not realize is that our city staff and council have worked with us however the finished product of this work was sent to the City Attorney’s Office to draft the ordinance. The City Attorney came back with an unreasonable ordinance in which he not only did not take into consideration any of the work done in the working group but also failed to even mention collectives (Storefront) at all. This is a problem because the sooner that we get regulation the sooner we can move on to other issues with our limited resources. The sooner that we have regulation the sooner the moratorium will end. The regulation is stuck in the Planning and Land use committee chaired by Councilman Ed Reyes, so we need to impress upon him and the other council members to not let the regulations idle. In addition to this point we should in light of recent raids Liberty Temple, North East Collective, MCA (All DEA raids with the assistance of LAPD) and of course The Platinum Club (LAPD raid ?) should again ask for an Order of Non-cooperation for LAPD to stop them from participating in these raids. We need to have as many people present tomorrow in City Council as possible being they will be out of session till January. Please come out and support “Your” cause. Not everyone has to speak however your presence is needed. When: Friday, December 12, 2008 at 10 a.m. Where: Los Angeles City Hall, 200 N. Spring Street is the physical address - 210 N. Main St. is the public entrance - be prepared to go through a metal detector and have ID available. Council Chambers are in room 340. Much Love & Respect, JOV |

Rep Power: 28914 | Re: Los Angeles City Council Meeting 12/12/08 if you can't ;impress' him. Try DEMANDING or COMPELLING him to serve his constituency. Just a thoth. I haven't usually been moved to action I don't want to do because I'm impressed with the others point. There needs to be an enforcement element here IMHO. An ORDER to compel perhaps or somesing......did I say that outloud? |
