Half of weedtracker is still finding out about the raids/protests that have already happened... heck I only found out last night around 6 pm about all of this. Everyone is full of fight and pissed off about this... lets take our anger out the best way we can and go protest some more! Who's with me? Where we goin'? I'm in! Rep Power: 7862 | re: Let's Get Some MORE Protests Going! Everyone is full of fight! Maybe if we protested at Starbucks... we'd catch a lot more attention than usual. People need their starbucks. Just a thought. Wait.. might not work.. I think it's gotta be a public place. The City Hall types are trained to look away at protestors because they are used to that sort of stuff. Starbucks might not be down with the meds n stuff... any ideas of places to protest where we can catch people off guard? Maybe if we all emerged in the crowd of a Lakers game with the same T-Shirt on or somethin.... hell, that's gay. I don't know. Any thoughts, people? Open forum here |

Rep Power: 113264 | re: Let's Get Some MORE Protests Going! Everyone is full of fight! I think that without a doubt, the single most important thing we can do as a community is to get a MASSIVE turnout for the city council vote tenatively scheduled for the first week of November. Let's make it happen folks! Let's get co-ops together sending representatives and car pooling! |

Rep Power: 4227 | I think if you want to have a good effective protest it all starts with a plan and a good understanding of why people do not attend. As people bring up many times its the same 50 to 100 people that show up WHY? Is it because they do not want to get photographed with fear of losing their job? One solution for this is wear a mask "after all Halloween is around the corner" Is it because they do not have transportation? Plan with enough time to set up car pools. Is it because they are too medicated. Once again car pool. We never know how many will show up for a protest except for the normal 50-100 dedicated activists. Ask Weed Tracker to send out a survey to find out the best day to protest. Ask Weed Tracker to send out invitations to the protest far in advance and tally the responses. This would ensure that people get notified. Weed4life Last edited by weed4life; 10-23-2009 at 02:40 PM.. |

Rep Power: 129898 | re: Let's Get Some MORE Protests Going! Everyone is full of fight! I'm serious about the flash mob. It would be total fun to just mob someplace (with appropriate news coverage, of course). It doesn't have to include elaborate choreography. Some people could just freeze in place or something. People in wheelchairs could be spun around to the music. Or we could all cluster together and hide under umbrellas or something. SOMETHING! Just thinking about how we could make it really fun. Read more about flash mob actions here: Flash mob - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Of, course we'd have to make it accommodate our disabled patients. Here's one without music: |

Rep Power: 10261 | re: Let's Get Some MORE Protests Going! Everyone is full of fight! What about protesting outside the houses of individual police officers who engage in harassing medical patients? Is it even legal? Sure would be fun, draw their neighbors (some of whom are statistically likely to use or support the use of mmj) attention to them the same way they have no problem drawing negative attention to our community. Just a thought. |

Flash mobs make really good video for the local tv stations. Another thing I was thinking is taking a subway tour with whatever flash mob action we might do, and ending up at Universal City Walk (or just going there first) to stage the action. I think we might be able to get even non-patients to participate. I know a big flickr photo group that I could ask to cover it. We could advertise it on the LAist and stuff. | |

Rep Power: 2584 | Re: Let's Get Some MORE Protests Going! Everyone is full of fight! Whats the plan? Media? Wheel Chairs? Patients of all walks of life? Were? When? How? Whats the plan? Were all fired up about this, but what do we really know about the situation? Do we go in fighting blind on a hunch that all dispensaries are doing good business? Or will the truth of this whole ordeal be unacceptable and immoral? What is it that our adversaries demand? They know we wont give up our rights because a lot of us that voted for Prop. 215 never even voted before until Prop. 215 made it to the ballot. Just like the rest of you, I too am fired up about this. However, lets get the story straight, overstand what it is that WE want to fight for. When WE fight, WE fight with knowledge. Then we can level the playing for good. Organize! RADDATATPAT |
