Help change the stereotype.

Hello fellow weedtrackers, I have been thinking lately that maybe we all need to come together to maybe clean up a park, give to a charity, or anything of that nature. We need to show our community that we're not a bunch of pot head stoners and that we are productive members of our community. I also think if we do happen to organize an event that we should get the media involved and I don't think there would be a problem with them not making it out since all I've been seeing in the news lately is about medical marijuana. Anyways I posted this to see if anyone out there would be willing to help out and make a difference.

Thumbs down Re: Help change the stereotype.

I also think we need another protest but I am kind of tired of the wear suits to church mentality. So far that has not worked. Just be yourself and actually show up.

You wanna know how many showed up today? Around 50-60 people.

What kind of protest do you want? The quite sheep approach is not working. We need to consider another more vocal approach. What stereotype are we trying to protect. Be true to yourself. I don't care so much what you wear to the protest but that you show up.

We need to make some noise!

Know what I think we really need? A good old fashioned 1960's style protest with lots of people, lots of balls and lots of smoke-ins. That will get the attention we need just like it succeeded in the 60's. Quite frankly, compared to activism back then, we really suck. 50 people just doesn't cut it when there are 250,000 registered MMJ patients in LA County. How is it only .02% (that's not even one percent!) of all patients showed up? That's pathetic!

Our stereotype is a problem. It's a stereotype that speaks of apathy and lack of support from within our own community. This is indeed a bad stereotype we perpetuate. Perhaps we should worry more about that insidious stereotype than what the public perceives as being a stereotype of stoners, etc.

Just offering constructive albeit harsh criticism because I truly feel we need to get more potent in our approach to protesting.

Best,

GB

My intentions are to gain the public's support and vote. The sad truth is that as long as there is still a club around the block and most people can still get their medicine, they don't really care about protesting. I say "most" not "all" so if you're one of the few like me then I say we get together to help out and gain support and show them we're not criminals or potheads we're just patients.
