Culver City city Council round two

a handful of patients, including the owner of organica, spoke at the Culver City city Council tonight.

The Police Department made a public statement
Donald Paderson chief of police

Quote:
on July 31, 2008 agents from the drug enforcement administration (DEA) served a federal search warrant at the business name "the organica collective" located at 13456 Washington Blvd. The business is a medical marijuana dispensary.

At the request of the DEA, members of Culver City police were asked to assist them in the service of their warrant due to safety concerns for both law enforcement and the public.

The Culver City Police Department has taken no enforcement action at this location. We were simply asked to assist the DEA was the service of their search warrant.

The police department finds itself in a very difficult position on this issue. We have done our absolute best to recognize the issues involved in the conflict between state and federal law. The Police Department has not taken action against anyone who has presented themselves as a user of medical marijuana.

With regard to the specific search one, we will be unable to discuss the matter in its entirety due to the fact that there is an ongoing criminal investigation.

For further information, please contact DEA spokesperson Sarah Pullen at (213) 621-6827

I explained to them that I was a student/resident in LA and a churchgoer in Culver City. Explain to themthat the state attorney general just released guidelines that reinforce the fact that collectives and corporatists are legal in the state of California and urge Clover city to move ahead and with adoptions and regulations to allow medical cannabis Corp. is within the city limits. Elsa asked for an ETA for the core city Police Department full report but assumed it had to do with the length of the DEA investigation.

I also explain that staff and patients have a hard time distinguishing between Culver City Police Department and the DEA and Blackwater agents.

the city Council seemed concerned about the difference between federal law and state law and I offered them a copy of the state attorney general's guidelines.

One councilman showed interest in finding out what the residents of Culver City felt about the medical marijuana situation.

I wasalso told that patients were harassed by the police and I suggested that any patient that was harassed by the Culver City Police Department reported to the corner city police chief so that it can be included within the investigation
