Whats up WTers ive been busy with work and such its been a while since i posted, hope this is the right sub forum... i need some advice

I have this loon neighbor who I was cool with until the night he pounded on my door with a belt in his hand after hearing me and my girlfriend fighting .. like he somehow was going to save my girlfriend from me as we both laughed in his face for it later. Well since then hes had it out for me and has called the cops a couple times for bullshit like loud music...

The cops were here monday night again, like the last time this happened i invited them in, even though i didnt have to, knowing i didnt have anything to hide as all my stuff was in the back room. The cops were pretty cool, gave me the rap about we have to get along and or move blah blah blah. But one of them noticed my vapor brothers box sitting kind of under the tv even though the mouthpiece was stashed, asked me if i had any pot in the house i said maybe, then proceeded to show him my mj license. He seemed to be ok with that and didnt press the weed thing anymore. I had this VH1 hip hop honors show on with the sound down the whole time and when slick rick was performing, they told me to turn it up and we sat there and watched it for 5 minutes and talked about 80s rap music lol.

I was intoxicated admittedly and after this i let my guard down, so before they left the other less talky one asked me for my social security number . I paused and asked him why thats a little strange, he explained something like its just procedure and somehow that was good enough for me then i rattled it off to him like it was nothing, they said thanks and i said bye. Now im kicking myself , should i be concernerd? Why would a street cop my age want my social security? Im a caucasian in my mid 30s, its not like theres a question of if im an illegal immigrant. I cant think of anything legitimate a cop would need this for, i dont ever remember being asked that by a cop. Damn this makes me look like a dumbass but i tell you they were sneaky about it, ugh anyways thanks for your time, im going to medicate with this bubble gum now

My advice "Never give up ANY right" They are not your friends! Converse through the door if they don't annouce a warrant. Once inside they can look around and give you grief if they chose to. Or some a-hole cop can plant something (coke, etc) and say "Hey partner what do we have here?" SS# can be used to run your name for job history, credit and further info for detailed investigations, I wouldn't panic as you can't un-ring the bell. You can get the advice of an atty though. Phone discussion won't cost you either.

you can go online and get your free credit report and put a flag on the reports that send an alert when someone is running your number for a credit check. It's a little bit of a hassel but well worth it. Also I can't remember the web address but it can be searched.

they have those websites where they protect your social security.

its not procedure for a law enforcement officer to ask you for your SS#.

By law were required to carry our ID Cards on us so that LEO'S can identify the persons. That's why we have this law!

No law about SS# card required.

Why did the cop ask?

The cop asked cuz know he has the ******** box of info on you. He can look at your income, your medical records, and any bank statements!

Sounds like someone's trying to make detective!

This is usually the way i think. I guess it was because of the frivilous nature of why they were even there in the 1st place, it was all because my neighbor is a trash pickin can recycling loser that does nothing but sit in his little balcony and watch everyone else. This moron was calling the police on me out of spite and the way he was acting was silly like a teen ager.. but nonetheless i should have been smarter regardless of if i have done anything originally or not

It was the 3rd time in a month i think the police came out, maybe that was why he got my social, because these guys are pissed they have to keep filling police reports. I have no police record, since i was 18 anyways but i have credit/tax issues this really sucks the not knowing part and i cant unring this bell exactly.

Yeah man i had my drivers license, i had my mj license, there was no need to get any more "identification" Im self employed ive been pretty much off the radar for so many years i wonder if they will think its fishy the lack of medical records, and income statements. I mean if a cop can actually look at my actual bank statements from my social, thats gotta be illegal .. why would they want to look at that... it freakin creeps me out!! ...

Cops can do whatever they want............it wont stick up in court, but he is playing dectective with you(you never have to give your social to a street cop/detective)...this is how they fish for info....they will look at your records/profile to determine if you are selling weed for a livin(plus you never know what your neighbor has told them).....so be mellow & watch out, the neighbor seems to be the source of your problem...is he a Puffer? is he for MMJ?
sometimes in life even when other peeps are wrong its better to swallow your pride & be the bigger man....dont know if that would work in your situation....just be careful now the Cops know you are MMJ patient, I know how O-side cops can be......so just watch your back & try to work it out w/ your neighbor if you can............GOOD LUCK.....

Best of luck, I would defiantly inquire as to what 'policy, he was 'following'. File a complaint if this is out of the norm, I'm sure it is.

watch out man no one should ask for the full SS# unless your signing up for something big or buying something really expensive. they usually only ask the last 4 digits to confirm. with just ur social and name they can do many bad things. they can open up accounts to launder money, they can create bank accounts.. etc you get the point, now you need to do periodic credit report checks to see if anyone did anything yet. you should call the police dept and complain that yesterday night 2 policeman came over on a routine call and all of the sudden one of them asked for my social. should let the police dept know, maybe speak with the captain or chief.

Well i think between all the records and cds , and dj equipment they saw they took my word about what i do, but yeah im sure the neighbor said i smoked weed too. Its actually 2 guys and they are from some island near jamaca and speak broken english, which is fine but they act like a couple of teenagers who think they are thugs. The time before the cops came i made sure everything was completely out of sight even the vaporizer box. I shouldnt have let them in without a double check nothing was in sight. Anyways thanks for the luck & advice...


I called the dept and just asked to talk to someone about the cops that were at my house, after being put on hold i asked the cop if this is normal, why did they ask for that. She went on hold again and came back saying she asked another officer and she said theres a place on every police report to put a social and that its completely normal routine. I then said ive never been asked that by a cop in my life, even the last time the cops were here for the very same thing why not? And all she did was repeat its a "very" normal routine. It wasnt exactly the answer i was looking for...

Well this is an odditty for me. I hate cops in every sense of the word. Ive been charged with transportation and felony possession even though the asshole pigs ran my license and verified my card with my doc. I was arrested sent to jail and put on 20k bail for 2 felony charges. Guess what happened charges were dropped and to this day they still hassle me for no reason at all.

I would never let a pig in my house for any reason. If they dont have a warrant to search and you have a clean record id just say hi from inside the house tell them i have nothing more to say and leave it at that. If they dont have any legitimate reasont to enter your house there are committing a crime themselves.

As far as asking for you ssn i dont see why any officer would demand that information. The mistake you made was to give it out and not find out the name of the officer that took it down.

I really dont think they can do much with that info other then find out your financial and criminal history but if you have a clean record that isnt a worry. If they do anything such as make accounts of use your number for a felonous act then guess what that identity theft and it doesnt matter if their a cop or not thats illegal and they will serve time i dont care how long their on their knees in the DA's office doing you know what.

Now wtf is your neighbors problem. If he is constantly calling the cops on you for rediculous reason file harrasment charges that will shut him up quick. If the cops continually show up asking questions yet no charges are filed that harrasment and the only person to really blame is your jackoff neighbor. I would suggest going to his house and having a chat with him. Tell him the situation hes placing you in explain your concerns with him and try to find a reasonable solution. If he refuses and continues to harrass you through the cops then sue his ass in court.

From now on keep your ssn to yourself if your not making a huge investment such as buying a car or house or applying for a loan no one but you needs to know your ssn. That is very private info and for an officer to tell you its normal procedure is complete bullshit. Dont ever trust law enforcement. The car might say to protect and serve. But they only protect and serve themselves. Why do you think they call an the officer partner a relieving officer.

Im sorry this happened to you but be smart next time dont ever ever let a cop into your house if they dont have a warrant. If they dont have one then ignore them this will eventually irritate them and they will either leave or attempt to break in which will look bad on the entire force.

Also as far as having your stuff hidden thats not important if your a legit medical patient that shouldnt be of their concern. A cop entered my backyard cause a neighbor called about my music being to loud. The cop went in through my side gate around the patio in my backyard over to my "pool room" and knocked on the door i was inside the bathroom in the house so when i went out to have a cig i saw him. I almost went off the handle but i kept my cool and asked him why he entered my backyard with no permission. His response was my gate was opened. That was a blatant lie but i didnt care i wanted to know why he was there he told me my music upset a neighbor. It was 9am on a friday i didnt think i was playing my music that loud but what ever. I asked him to move away from my door so i could enter my room to turn it down and he did. Yet when i opened my door he saw my bong 3 bubs and 4 mason jars filled with green. At first he told me to put my hands behind my back. I told him i was medical and he let me relax checked my ID and med card and that was that no problems. He was the only cop that wasnt a complete ass. I believe he realized i knew he technically broke in so he wasnt gone push things but still i just turned my tunes down a little and he said he like my music and didnt really care about the noise but he has to enforce the law.

Point is if your a legit med patient they wont hassle you on your own property atleast they shouldnt. Keep your ssn to yourself from now on and if possible have them ommit it from any records they took because that information isnt neccesary to their "investigation". Talk politely with your neighbor possibly bring your girlfriend and explain that he is causing you problems and see what you can both do to end this bullshit.

I had a helmet and that was all they cared about. After about 5 times they stopped coming. One officer said he was going to inform dispatch about what was happening so they didnt have to waste time on a non issue.

I hate cops and for good reason but every once in a while a good one shows up and you luck out.

Get this one time I had to call the cops (not 911) about one of my friends (for bail, the troublemaker LOL) and tried the *67 and it would not allow the call to go through, no matter what.
