| Re: Reiki while medicated? In my clinical training as a doctor an Osteopathic manipulation instructor said, "the more I learn the more I realize I don't know shit." This I feel applies here for me because I have been working as a natural pain management doctor for 6 years using direct physical and indirect energetic techniques. One thing that I have noticed is that for subltle and energetic methods to work the mindset and level of relaxation have important effects in the releasing of adhesions or lesions in the body. For some patients this means taking a form of cannabis some time before the treatment. Mental and physical relaxation contribute to the effectiveness of a treatment on some level. Psychoneuroimmunology looks at the interrelatedness of the mind, nervous system, and immune system and new discoveries are being made all the time. So even if certain treatments or ceremony may be working on the mental/emotional plane, at least they are working. One treatment that I recieved in Germany in a spa was in body temperature salt water to remove gravity. Underwater they had dolphin and whale sounds feintly in the background and music arranged by a psychologist playing. The treatment was gentle and like being gently held in the arms of the practitioner who moves as if they are doing underwater tai-chi. In the U. S. it is called Watsu. There are amazing results when people can relax on this level. Anyways, just thought I would put my 2 cents in and connect with people here who are curious about healing. |
