I dont' know if this will help you out, but it's something I've done in the past when things get a bit too tight for comfort. Give yourself a tax break if you're eligible.

I go tax exempt at my job for just a couple of paychecks. Never any more because you get totally screwed at the end of the year if you do. I'm single zero and get hit hard every paycheck, so once in a while it's worth taking the bite and know that a refund wont be something to count on come tax time, but a couple weeks right now would put me on top of the bills.

Obviously this solution isn't for everyone, and I don't know the legalities of it being an option for everyone. But it's saved my ass from those phone calls once or twice.
