| Re: Saturday April 26, 2008 Protest!! No Excuses!! I have not gone into specifics on who is lazy and who is legitimate. But, I will say this, for every WT'er that has a legit excuse, there are five who don't.
If you read my original post, I was calling out the people who do nothing. The post doesn't apply to anybody who actually cares about the community and does whatever possible to help out. However small... But, apparently I hit a nerve with some of you...
I am not some random WT'er. I have been fighting for your rights and your medicine for awhile now. You think there are days when I don't want to go stand in the sun with a sign? That I'm not in extreme pain while I'm out there? I do it, because I know how important this is. I know that there are people who are in much worse shape than me, who need me out there for them. I fight for the people who can't help themselves. BUT, I can't do it forever. I need to see an effort being made by the people I fight for as well. Which, as of right now, I see hardly any effort being made by the average patient. I am angry and saddened by the community as of late. Of course, the people who are involved know who they are, and know I am not referring to them!
Finally, an event has been planned that can incorporate all involved with the community. So I am putting all my eggs in one basket. If I have to guilt or cajole people to go, to help fight for your rights, then thats what I'm going to do. I tried the kindness front, I tried the information front, I tried showing pictures, and I even tried bribery at my club! Each time was less and less people. So, I'm sorry if I have lost confidence in trying to appeal to certain natures of our patients. I will leave that to others. Personally, if I have to physically drag people to the protest, I will. If I have to guilt them to the point of tears, I will. You know why? Simply because this is starting to seem like my last ditch effort. If this event isn't what it should be, then I think I'm done. I can't help people who don't want to be helped anymore. In summation, If you can go, great! I will see you there. If not, I really don't want to hear the why's or can'ts of why you are not there. If it's important to you, you will be there. |
