Hey DIG,
I think everyone who knows about you understands you're situation. And comments like this original post are directed at no one in particular but get sprayed at everyone. I think when we make huge generalizations or comments about a group of people who just happen to be the nameless, faceless "other" we cause more harm than good. If we want people to show up we have to keep in mind the tactics that really work for getting people out to rallies. Name calling, insults, and negativity aren't great motivates. Kindness, compliments, and positivity are.
In your specific situation, I'm wondering if there is a way for you to attend even if you're having a bad CFS day. Like is there are wheel chair that you could sit in and be pushed in? Or is that just too much too? I'm not really familiar with your condition. I'd love to see you out there.
I think if we can brainstorm why people don't want to attend and can come up with ways of address their concerns we'll get more people out there. If it's fun and an opportunity to meet other patients (like a meet n greet).
I think by focusing on what we want (people to attend, media to report, etc) we'll be more likely to get it as opposed to focusing on what we do NOT want (low attendance, no media coverage, etc).
