Re: Recall Rules for Trutanich and Cooley

Some non related crap from another true Cooley hater:

Steve Cooley L.A.D.A. Should Resign

There is a auto link to write a complaint about him to the White House. Looks like this guy has deep rooted personal hate, but great reading none the less. LOL

This is from there:
Quote:
Elected for Third Term: Steve Cooley is vested with the authority to investigate and prosecute criminal activity. He is paid about $300,000 annually, by the people to act for the people. He is the highest paid D.A. in California. He is a public servant and must put the interests of the people above his own personal interests. He must conduct himself in a manner that best serves the community.
Quote:
Candidates for L.A.D.A. Albert Robles and Steve Ipsen
Steve Cooley was elected for a third term in 2008. He was opposed by Albert Robles, Member of the Water Replenishment Board and Steve Ipsen, President, Association of Deputy District Attorneys. Cooley ignored his opponents and the issues. Robles and Ipsen, reported that Cooley is corrupt and does not do his job. YouTube - Preview District Attorney Steve Cooley 2000 to 2008
Incumbent Non-Responsive
Cooley did not debate his opponents or defend his conduct as District Attorney. He did not answer questions posed by the news media. He refused to be interviewed by Full Disclosure Network. Cooley did not risk a loss dealing with issues. He had loads of money and won by a landslide.
Cooley Won With Support of Criminal Defense Lawyers
Cooley celebrated his Birthday with a Party and invited Criminal Defense Lawyers to his home. Deputy prosecutors were not invited. Hundreds of criminal defense attorneys gave Cooley a $1,000 campaign contribution and some brought their secretaries who gave another $1,000 for his campaign. His opponents contend that Cooley is committed to criminal defense attorneys who contributed to his campaign.
Cooley Made No Denials
Cooley did not deny that he does not investigate the rich and powerful. The rich and powerful do not want to be investigated. Cooley did not prosecute priests for child molestation. Cooley does not want to make enemies; Cooley wants campaign contributions to assure he stays in office.
Pay Raise or Bribe?
In essence, Cooley uses prosecutorial discretion for his benefit. For example, Cooley did not investigate the Board of Supervisors for their shenanigans and was rewarded with a $100,000 raise or bribe at a time when taxpayers are struggling to pay their taxes. Cooley makes about $300,000 and is the highest paid District Attorney in the State of California.
Cooley Favors Campaign Contributors
Cooley has created a climate where favored individuals are above the law. As it turns out even those charged with crimes may employ favored defense attorneys and obtain a pass for unlawful conduct. Robles and Ipsen report that an investigation of a drug cartel went no where after a criminal defense lawyer took over who had contributed to Cooley’s election campaign.
In Summary: These candidates are critical of Steve Cooley’s ethics. They claim that Cooley doesn’t earn his pay, because he doesn’t do his job. Los Angeles has a prosecutor who favors the rich and powerful and who is willing to compromise his prosecutorial authority currying the favor of criminal defense attorneys. Cooley is obligated to criminal defense attorneys who have helped elect him to office when they represent criminals in court.
