I am just beginning to gain an appreciation for wine.... I have cultivated a preference for reds in most occasions unless it is a hot day or the meal calls for white. I like drier reds mostly and usually avoid any sweet wines. One of the tastiest wines I have ever tried was in Cape Town, South Africa. There they have a type of reds called "Pinotage" and there was one variety that had a chocolate flavor to it. The chocolate was not overtly sweet or bitter but was nicely balanced in the dry grape flavor. While drinking it I couldn't help but imagine how nice a bowl of some GDP or Blueberry, or some other nice fruity flavorful herb, would be. :)
