Let me just add this (if you are still reading) Yes it is like having a child, make sure you can afford all unexpected vet bills for you new baby, make sure you do have the time to spend with him/her, make sure you are willing to walk them two or more times a day and if you plan on leaving them outdoors all day make sure you have a safe secure spot from them so they don't have to be chained!
