By a proportion of something like 10-to-1, negative articles by conservatives were vastly more detailed, specific and practical about the proposals than were supportive articles by Democrats, which often made gestures rather than arguments and brimmed with emotion and sneers."
Continuing with the second paragraph,
"There was a glaring inability in most Democratic commentary to think ahead and forecast what would or could be the actual snarled consequences-- in terms of delays, denial of services, errors, miscommunications and gross invasions of privacy -- of a massive single-payer overhaul of the healthcare system in a nation as large and populous as ours. It was as if Democrats live in a utopian dream world, divorced from the daily demands and realities of organization and management."
Your questions are best asked of the author... Salon has a link to her email at the end of the article and I'd enjoy reading her reply.
You aren't bothered by those who use either a swastika or moustache on a picture as a protected first amendment right are you? |
The Dems set the tone for the ridiculous distortions by not being on the same page, and no leadership from Obama. There are no freaking Death Panels in this legislation, and as far as I can fathom there is no "massive single-payer overhaul". Just some competion for the healthcare insurance industry that has a stranglehold on America. Why the author ignores the distortions from the fringe right is a mystery to me, kinda freaky in fact.
I acknowledge the First Amendment right to make Nazi references, but they are done in poor taste. Whenever they are made from either side they usually make the person look foolish and partisan. Just this morning I heard some guy on 760am, Rick Roberts, go into a tirade on how yesterdays school speech was exactly what Hitler did in his early years. Makes the guy sound stupid IMHO.
