My old docs website states that he left to join another organization and that another doc is taking over. The LA office is stated as closed on a "temp" basis but one is in so orange county.

This one is easy.... The physician who signed your "doctor's letter" aka "physician's recommendation" must be a physician "in good standing" with a valid not suspended physician's license. If your doctor's license got revoked, your letter is no good in court. Get a new physician's letter, NOW. Do not wait for a replacement physician at the old address. Get a new doctor NOW if you plan to keep smoking legally. Your current recommendation has become worthless.
